A fine example of Indo-Islamic architecture, Mandu is a romance in stone echoing joyous life & the love tales of poet-prince Baz Bahadur for the beautiful Rani Roopmati. The balladeers of Malwa continue to sing of the royal romance. Mandu was originally the fort capital of the Parmar rulers of Malwa.

Jahaz Mahal: A 120 mt. long double-storeyed pleasure palace, built between the two lakes Munj Talao & Kapur Talao, resembles a ship. It was said to have been built by Sultan Ghiyas-ud-din Khilji for his large harem of 15,000 women. This palace is a remarkable creation in stone.

Hindola Mahal: The 'Swinging Palace' gets its name from the leaning walls of the palace that resembles a swing & dates back to the time of Ghiyas-ud-din.

Nilkantha: On the edge of a gorge is the shrine of Shiva inside an Islamic palace. This palace was constructed by the Mughal Governor for Emperor Akbar's Hindu wife.
