About Lohit: A small distance away from Tezu in the Lohit district, is the legendary Parasuram Kund. Each year on the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, a mela is held here, which people from all over the country come to attend. It is believed that a dip in the holy water of Parasuram Kund on that day will wash away all sins. This belief follows the legend of Parasuram, recorded in the Kalika Purana, from which the place got its name.
